The Anchor Pub is a mix
of a Dutch ‘brown café’ and a British-style pub, which hs been in the port
district of downtown Haifa since 1942. I go there on a rainy Friday evening
(Shabbat) and am all alone in the pub. A nice waitress who speaks good English
advises me to go for the house specialty and that is what I do.
I get the Roast Beef
Sandwich: a long, toasted hoagie with thin slices of roast beef and a garlicy
mayo that is very tasty but feels also a bit heavy and, dare I say it,
unhealthy.
VERDICT: 83/100
The Anchor Pub
serves good and quite original pub food.
