Sam's Hot Dog Stand is a small, old, kind of forgotten hot dog place in downtown Lexington. It looks like they have given up on the place years ago, despite the fact that there is a regular stream of customers (from old women who are shopping to construction workers on their break). I later find out it is a chain, which started in West Virginia, and now has some 40 locations, mostly in Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia. They serve hot dogs, BBQ sandwiches, and milkshakes.
I get an All-Beef Hot Dog ($1.84), which comes with everything: kraut, relish, cole slaw, chili, mustard, and ketchup. The wiener is invisible under the onslaught of condiments, but the overall effect is quite positive.
VERDICT: 85/100
Sam's Hot Dog Stand is a chain that serves prettug good hot dogs in a no-thrills environment.
