Rico’s World Kitchen is a small
restaurant in a former Pure gas station in the old downtown of Bufford. It is
described like "a hidden gem" but on this Friday around lunchtime
plenty people have found it. It is bumping! I sit at the tiny bar, which mainly
serves as the distribution center of the take out. Rico's serves a mix of
Southern and Filipino food. Despite its modest appearance, it is an
award-winning restaurant rather than a more classic pig out spot.
I order Nett’s
Lumpias ($5.50) as a starter: Filipino-style egg rolls with beef-pork. They are
thin flutes with a crispy batter and spiced grinded meat. Salty and tasty. My
main dish is the Mojo Pork ($8.75), which is a huge heap of flavorful, tender
but meaty roasted pork on a roasted potato bun dipped in a sweet but savory BBQ
sauce. Delicious!
VERDICT: 92/100
Definitely worth the
hype!
