Møllergata 23, 0179 Oslo, Norway
Illegal Burger is an upscale, hipster burger place
in a trendy part of downtown Oslo, which only sells burgers and fries. It has
10 different types of burgers, all but one can be either beef or fish. The
burgers are char-grilled, which is quite rare in Europe. They were chosen as
Oslo’s best burgers in 2015.
I get the
GreenChilliSalsa with a single patty (NOK 93 or ca. $12), which is a 130g patty
with pickles, tomato, ketchup, and spicy green chili salsa on a pressed burger
bun. The patty is a bit dry and rubbery, but the overall taste of the burger is
salty and sour. The fries (NOK 42 or ca. $5) are thick and a bit soft, with an odd
snappy, rather than crispy, outside. They come with an “Aioli,” a posh version
of mayonnaise, which is a bit garlicky but bland.
VERDICT: 82/100
Not bad for a European,
let alone a Norwegian, burger place.
