Karl Johans Gate 35,
0162 Oslo, Norway
Egon Restaurant is a Norwegian chain of some 25 American-style
restaurants throughout the country. It has a big and broad menu, mostly
combining Italian and American dishes: pasta, pizza, burgers, salads, and steaks.
I visit the one on the most touristic street in downtown Oslo.
I get the Egon
Burger (NOK 225 or $27): a 160g burger with mushrooms, onion, bacon, and pepper
sauce as well as a side of fries. The burger has a great taste, but more like
eating a soft pepper steak on a soft and delicious bun. The fries taste a bit
old and bland.
VERDICT: 84/100
It is expensive,
even for Norwegian standards, but this might be in part because of the location.
Overall pretty good food and the Egon Burger is original.
